Birchbox Subscription Box #2 January 2015

The second January 2015 Birchbox monthly box arrived. The box contained the following samples:

IMG_7260

The box contains:

1. Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. I have received this one before. It works, but there are cheaper brands that do also.

2. Whish Three Whishes Body Butter – Lavender. Yes, a second one (see box #1).

3. COOLA Environmental Repair Plus® Radical Recovery™ After-Sun Lotion. I have also received one of these before. I do not like it.

4. Coastal Scents® Revealed Palette. A tiny, but beautiful group of neutrals. I will probably add it to one of my travel size palettes.

5. Aquareveal™ Gentle Action Water Peel for Body. Now, I have the body product also (see other box for the facial product)!

I do not like this box as much as the first, but I am surprisingly happy with the eyeshadow.

Birchbox Subscription Box #1 January 2015

The first January 2015 Birchbox monthly box arrived. Interestingly, before the second, older subscription, has even shipped. The box contained the following samples:

IMG_7149

The box contains:

1. Aquareveal Soft Water Peel For Face

2. Beauty Protector Protect & Oil. This stuff has a delightful sweet smell. I already have two samples of it so I think I may be set for a while. It adds a nice amount of shine, and my hair does seem softer after using it. This is on my list to buy if I ever run out of all the samples.

3. Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner.  I love these eyeliners. They glide on nicely. The color is great, and they blend well.

4. Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 40. Good sunscreen ingredients for sensitive skin.

5. Whish Three Whishes Body Butter – Lavender. The scent is not my thing, but the butter is nice and rich.

The items of this box were of very good quality. Although they were not all hits for me, I am happy.

Beauty Army Subscription Box December 2014

The December 2014 Beauty Army monthly box arrived. The box contained the following samples:

IMG_7038

1. Michael Todd Skincare Collection

2. Frut Beauty Balancing Fruit Serum

3. Equitance Hydrating Brightening Serum

4. Leonor Greyl Beautifying Shampoo for Highlighted Hair

5. Novex Olive Oil Treatment.  Wonderfully moisturizing.

6. Specific Beauty Night Treatment Complex.

I was a bit disappointed since they have done away with their nice boxes that can be reused for storage. Instead, the mailing box is all you get.

What I like about Beauty Army is they have the option to skip a box and give you some flexibility in choosing what you want each month. Subscription prices vary based on price, but it is approximately $12 a month.

Influenster Frosty Vox Box December 2014

The Influenster Frosty Vox Box contained complimentary products for testing and review purposes:

IMG_6494

1. Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in 001 Black and Rimmel Just Let It Go… Gentle Eyes Make Up Remover #Rimmel

See my full length review on this blog for more on these products and why I loved the liner and loathed the remover.

2. NYC Expert Last Lip Color in 418 Sugar Plum #SugarPlum

This was a pretty pink color (cool tone/blue shade) with nice subtle pearl. Quite pretty. The lipstick was also nice and creamy.

3. Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum #GetADVANCED

See my full length review on this blog for more on this serum and why I am ambivalent on it.

4. McCormick Gourmet in Thyme #McCormickGourmet

Good, no complaints. A product we already use.

5. Fruit Vines Bites in Strawberry #SweetSide

Contains soybean oil. Not as sweet as I like my candy.

6. Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane Decaf Tea #CelestialTea

Very tasty. Check out my full length review on this blog for more information.

Overall, this was a great box. I will continue to use the lipstick, eyeliner, and thyme. If I am in the mood for peppermint, I would seriously consider buying the tea.

The unboxing is part of my youtube video if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtU-6RW167I.

This was a nice peppermint tea. The taste was very good, and the peppermint was quite noticeable. I chose to have it with some milk and splenda, and I was very pleased. Definitely recommended!

Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner and Just Let It Go Gentle Eye Make Up Remover from Influenster Frosty Vox Box December 2014

The Influenster Frosty Vox Box contained complimentary products for testing purposes:

IMG_6875

1. Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in 001 Black

2. Rimmel Just Let Go… Gentle Eyes Make Up Remover

#Rimmel

I already use the eyeliners from this brand, and the black pencil was no disappointment. The color was nice and the liner glides nicely. The product is not waterproof on me, but it is long-lasting. I find that if I blend right away, I am happy with the results. If you want to blend your eyeliner, you do not want to wait too long with this formula or it will not work.

The makeup remover was not a good experience. It took a lot of effort and remover to take off my eye makeup. Then, I ended up have an allergic reaction to it. It did keep its promise regarding no oily residue, but this is not a product for me. I will not be switching to this brand.

Boots No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Serum from Influenster Frosty Vox Box December 2014

The Frosty Vox Box from Influenster contained the following complimentary product for testing and review purposes:

IMG_6505

Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum #GetADVANCED

Unfortunately, they only sent a single use packet.  It did come with a $2 coupon, but the product retails for $22.99.  That is still a big investment!

The good:

It feels good, and my skin felt soft.

It did not have an offensive smell.

It would work for men or women.

I have sensitive skin, and I did not have an allergic reaction.

IMG_7004

The bad:

It did trigger my rosacea.  I did not see any redness outside of my cheeks, such as on my neck.

It did not make any difference in appearance of fine lines or wrinkles.  Would it if I tried it more than once?  I do not know since they did not send enough of the product to really make a determination whether it was worth the money.

I am ambivalent about the serum.  I have a serum I like now that feels similar.  My current serum seems to work well with my rosacea where this product did not.

The verdict:  The sample serum did not provide any benefits that motivated me to make a switch.
